Pimpama is one of the fastest-growing suburbs in the country, transformed from farmland into master-planned estates almost entirely from the mid-2000s onward. The housing stock here is dominated by newer project-built brick-veneer homes and townhouses off streets like Mirambeena Drive, Gawthern Drive and Dixon Drive, with a smaller fringe of older rural holdings toward Pimpama-Jacobs Well Road. There is very little pre-2000s stock, so the work is shaped less by old rewiring and more by base-spec boards struggling to keep up with modern households.

The estate switchboards are the busiest job here. They were fitted to a builder base spec for the appliances of the day, not for today's ducted aircon, induction cooktops, pool circuits and EV chargers all pulling at once, and adding those loads is what tips an under-sized board into trouble. On a hot afternoon that often shows up as flickering lights, a warm switch, or a safety switch that keeps letting go. Location matters too. The suburb sits low on an inland floodplain crossed by Hotham Creek and the Pimpama River, both of which broke their banks in the 2022 Gold Coast floods, so storm season brings real risk of surge and sudden load through the network. The older rural properties predating the estate boom can still be missing safety switches on every circuit, and we retrofit those to standard.
